Quick N Easy Microwave Egg Dishes
In our fast paced world, there is hardly ever time for an all-too-perfect sit-down breakfast. We always want it done quick and fast, even if quality and health is often compromised. But with the emergence of digital cooking equipment like the microwave oven, we can be able prepare a quick yet healthy breakfast in no time.
Here are 5 recipes one can prepare in 3 minutes tops!
Fast Eggs Scramble
Use a coffee cup / 1 cup glass measure and stir together egg, then 1 tablespoon milk or water. Place on HIGH power, cook for 40-45 seconds. If on 50%PRCTG% power, cook for 1.5 minutes. Stir twice while heating. Scrambled egg comes out light and fluffy. To spice it up, add leftovers like ham, mushrooms, cheese to your mixture before placing in the microwave.
Fried Eggs
Break and slip 1 egg into each of two lightly greased 10-ounce custard cups or a pie plate. Gently prick yolks with tip of knife or wooden pick. Cover with plastic wrap. Set microwave to two to three minutes on 50%PRCTG% power. Let stand, covered until whites are completely set and yolks begin to thicken but are not hard.
Hard-Cooked Eggs
Separate yolks and whites of eggs into two lightly greased liquid measures or small bowls. Stir yolks with fork. Cover each container with plastic wrap or lids. Cook separately on 50%PRCTG% or 30%PRCTG% power, stirring once or twice, allowing about 20 to 30 seconds per yolk, about 30 seconds to one minute per white. Remove when slightly underdone. Let stand, covered, for 2 minutes. Cool long enough to handle comfortably, then chop or chill until ready to chop.
Poached Eggs
Pour 1/3 cup water into 10-ounce custard cup or small deep bowl. Break and slip in two eggs. Gently prick yolks with tip of knife or wooden pick. Cover with plastic wrap or lids. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes on high power. If necessary, let stand, covered, until whites are completely set and yolks begin to thicken but are not hard, for 1 to 2 minutes. Pour off water to serve in custard cup or lift out with slotted spoon. NOTE: For four eggs, use 2/3-cup water in one-quart bowl or baking dish. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Let stand as above.
Breakfast Fajitas
5 strips of cooked bacon (or turkey bacon)
4 or 5 potatoes, diced and fried
4 or 5 eggs
Flour tortillas
Lettuce, chopped
Tomatoes, chopped
Cheese, shredded
Scramble eggs thoroughly and crumble bacon into mixture. Mix together with potatoes and heat for 2 minutes on high power. Set aside. Warm flour tortillas in microwave set to 30 to 40 seconds; put mixture in flour tortillas. Top with chopped lettuce, tomatoes and cheese.
Reminders:
Do NOT cook eggs in their shells. Steam builds up inside the shell so eggs may burst under the pressure. Shelled hard-boiled eggs should be sliced or cut up before reheating inside the microwave oven. Yolks will cook faster than whites in microwaves unless mixed.
